What this is

A real build challenge, not a quiz.

AetherEdge is running a practical student builders challenge to identify high-potential students who can think, build, ship, and communicate clearly using public data and real engineering tools.

A 7-day challenge for shortlisted students to build and deploy a vehicle counting and flow analysis solution using public video data.

What we're evaluating

Skills that matter more than a leaderboard score.

  • Practical problem solving
  • Computer vision engineering
  • Counting / tracking logic
  • Ability to ship
  • Clarity of communication
  • Lightweight production readiness

Set expectations

What we actually want to see.

  • Perfect accuracy is NOT expected.
  • A working, well-explained solution is better than an over-ambitious broken one.
  • Pre-trained models and open-source libraries are allowed.
  • AI coding tools are allowed, but students must understand and explain their solution.
  • Training a model from scratch is NOT required.

Challenge format

How the 7 days work.

  1. 01

    Understand the challenge

  2. 02

    Use the provided dataset subset

  3. 03

    Build a working, deployable prototype

  4. 04

Submit demo + code + report

  5. 05

Top submissions move forward in the program
